After completing High school Jennifer applied for and was accepted into the Fashion Design Program at University College of the Fraser Valley. The program taught Jennifer Fashion Design and Illustration, Garment Construction, Pattern Drafting, Textiles, History of Fashion, Surface Design, Grading and Draping. Jennifer also completed a computer course within the program and learned Tukadesign, and Tukamark which are pattern drafting software. In Jennifer’s garment construction course she learned how to maintain and operate industrial and domestic machines including: single needle, three and five thread sergers, blind hemmer, and coverstich machines.

During Jennifer’s first year at UCFV, she was awarded the Fashion Design Randy Huber Scholarship 2003. At the end of the two year program Jennifer completed a line of ladies wear and was awarded the Most Marketable Collection Award 2004.
After receiving a diploma in Fashion Design, Jennifer was employed by Pacific Safety Products (PSP) as a Designer. At PSP Jennifer was responsible for designing new product lines, modifying existing products, developing patterns, grading patterns, developing technical packages, sewing sample garments, creating bills of materials, outputting products to the manufacturing floor, and creating custom patterns.

Jennifer was the head designer for the Horizon One contract for chemical warfare protective coveralls with the Department of National Defense. This project included the design and technical expertise to complete these specialized coveralls, and providing the training to productions staff to complete the construction to meet specific standards. |

Jennifer’s passion for fashion and her love of children have inspired her to own her own company Luvbug Designs. Luvbug Designs is a home-based business with a mobile retail trailer. Luvbug Designs focuses on providing superior UV protection for children. Luvbug Designs, manufactures and sells quality UV protective clothing at competitive prices for children aged 0-12, targeting the North Okanagan and surrounding communities while raising awareness of the harmful effects of too much sun exposure. |
